tl; dr: When god tells humans to do bad things is when religion is bad. Note that this is not the only way in which the Quran is immoral, but it is the most severe. Islam is morally bad in ways that are unique to Islam.

Islam is just another Abrahamic religion. It teaches many of the same things. They all have their good parts and their bad parts. Therefore they have roughly equal morality.
This argument is used frequently. It has widely propagated due to ignorance. Ignorance is not meant as an insult here, rather it's meant literally, that is, most people do not know a lot about the contents of either the Bible or the Quran (or the Torah). And it is good that people do not condemn something they know nothing about. However these assumptions are gravely wrong. The Islamic ideology is morally wrong, it is not compatible with democracy.
Unfortunately, it is true that morality is up for debate. For example some people think eating any meat at all is wrong. So to give structure to the argument, I will be arguing from the perspective of classic Liberal ideals. A rule that assaults individual or human rights is immoral. A rule that thwarts democracy or denies its secularism is immoral. A rule that condemns a person or people for who they are rather than their actions is immoral.
The Quran is a book, and books don't do anything. So how is ideology it espouses morally wrong? It is necessary to clarify and distinguish the different types on messages that can be found in books.
Someone in a book can give meaningless prose or rhetoric, prayers etc.

What is better - to be born good, or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?

These are not immoral.
A person in a book can tell the reader to do something. People have free will and reasoning and are expected to exercise these. If Bob the bridge engineer tells you to jump off a bridge, that does not mean bridge engineers are bad it means Bob is bad. (Sorry Bob.) Therefore this does not reflect poorly on the ideology.
A person in a book can do something. If someones actions are bad, then that someone acted bad. Is the book about a murderer bad, or is only the murderer bad? Only the murderer is bad. Therefore someones bad actions do not reflect poorly on an ideology.
In a book God can do something. God is omniscient (all-knowing.)
An all-knowing being does know the ultimate balance of their actions.
Because we lack this ultimate knowledge, we cannot judge Gods actions.
For example:
Suppose you have the option to kill someone who will commit
an evil act. Is your act of murder better in the end than the evil
thing they were going to do? Or do two wrongs not make a right?
Or maybe murder is the most evil thing? Does it balance out? Us
humans can't know, but God can.
In a book God can tell the reader to do something. Each religion is based on the commands of their God. This is the core of Abrahamic religions. God wants you to do (or not) certain things in order to secure your position in heaven. Therefore if God commands the reader to do bad this reflects poorly on the ideology.
A command can be overt or direct: "Do this, don't do that." but it can also be implicit. Since the goal of these religion is heaven, implications that could gain or lose favour turn into implicit commands. If God implies
God loves he who puts ketchup on macaroni.The effect is the same as if God had said directly: "Put ketchup on macaroni. Don't put syrup on eggs."
Cursed is he who puts syrup on scrambled eggs.
The Quran is the word of God as told by Muhammad, therefore all of its commands are from God.
We do not abrogate a verse or cause it to be forgotten except that We bring forth [one] better than it or similar to it. Do you not know that Allah is over all things competent?
Here the Quran tells the reader that verses will be abrogated. This means that verses can be canceled by later verses.

Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not.
Allah says that fighting (jihad) is required of Muslims.
Let not the believers Take for friends or helpers Unbelievers rather than believers: if any do that, in nothing will there be help from Allah: except by way of precaution, that ye may Guard yourselves from them. But Allah cautions you (To remember) Himself; for the final goal is to Allah.
Say, "Obey Allah and the Messenger." But if they turn away - then indeed, Allah does not like the disbelievers.
Do not befriend or even ally with unbelievers (non-Muslims). Allah does not like unbelievers, therefore Muslims should not like unbelievers. Allah commands Muslims to be intolerant of non-Muslims.
Among the believers are men true to what they promised Allah. Among them is he who has fulfilled his vow [to the death], and among them is he who awaits [his chance]. And they did not alter [the terms of their commitment] by any alteration - That Allah may reward the truthful for their truth and punish the hypocrites if He wills or accept their repentance. Indeed, Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful.
Here God asserts that good Muslims are: those who have died committing Jihad, and those who will commit Jihad.
O wives of the Prophet, whoever of you should commit a clear immorality - for her the punishment would be doubled two fold, and ever is that, for Allah, easy.
Why is a punishment for Muahammad's wives doubled? This is unequal and thus immoral.
O Prophet, indeed We have made lawful to you your wives to whom you have given their due compensation and those your right hand possesses from what Allah has returned to you [of captives] and the daughters of your paternal uncles and the daughters of your paternal aunts and the daughters of your maternal uncles and the daughters of your maternal aunts who emigrated with you and a believing woman if she gives herself to the Prophet [and] if the Prophet wishes to marry her, [this is] only for you, excluding the [other] believers. We certainly know what We have made obligatory upon them concerning their wives and those their right hands possess, [but this is for you] in order that there will be upon you no discomfort. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.
"Those your right hand possesses" are slaves. Here Allah is saying it is acceptable to have sex with slaves. Slavery is immoral. Slaves can't consent to sex.
Not lawful to you, [O Muhammad], are [any additional] women after [this], nor [is it] for you to exchange them for [other] wives, even if their beauty were to please you, except what your right hand possesses. And ever is Allah, over all things, an Observer.
Again, this is rape of slaves.
O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.
Allah says women need to cover themselves to avoid being abused.
If the hypocrites and those in whose hearts is disease and those who spread rumors in al-Madinah do not cease, We will surely incite you against them; then they will not remain your neighbors therein except for a little. Accursed wherever they are found, [being] seized and massacred completely.
If hypocrites spread "rumours" (say anything that goes against Allah,) Muslims are commanded to massacre them completely.
O you who have believed, do not take My enemies and your enemies as allies, extending to them affection while they have disbelieved in what came to you of the truth, having driven out the Prophet and yourselves [only] because you believe in Allah, your Lord. If you have come out for jihad in My cause and seeking means to My approval, [take them not as friends]. You confide to them affection, but I am most knowing of what you have concealed and what you have declared. And whoever does it among you has certainly strayed from the soundness of the way.
Allah's enemies, Jews and Christians, and Pagans are declared enemies of Muslims forever. Peace is not permitted. War is bad.
O you who have believed, do not make allies of a people with whom Allah has become angry. They have despaired of [reward in] the Hereafter just as the disbelievers have despaired of [meeting] the inhabitants of the graves.
Allah commands Muslims not to be allies with people who have made Allah angry. Those who anger Allah are the usual suspects: Jews, polytheists, Christians etc. I bet I made Allah angry by revealing a long lost Surah.
And [also prohibited to you are all] married women except those your right hands possess. [This is] the decree of Allah upon you. And lawful to you are [all others] beyond these, [provided] that you seek them [in marriage] with [gifts from] your property, desiring chastity, not unlawful sexual intercourse. So for whatever you enjoy [of marriage] from them, give them their due compensation as an obligation. And there is no blame upon you for what you mutually agree to beyond the obligation. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.
The context of this verse is that the Quran is listing people whom Muslims may not have sex with. Muslims may not have sex with married women, except if they are possessed by their right hand i.e. slaves. Islam explicitly condones rape of slaves and therefore slavery.
So fight, [O Muhammad], in the cause of Allah ; you are not held responsible except for yourself. And encourage the believers [to join you] that perhaps Allah will restrain the [military] might of those who disbelieve. And Allah is greater in might and stronger in [exemplary] punishment.

What is [the matter] with you [that you are] two groups concerning the hypocrites, while Allah has made them fall back [into error and disbelief] for what they earned. Do you wish to guide those whom Allah has sent astray? And he whom Allah sends astray - never will you find for him a way [of guidance]. They wish you would disbelieve as they disbelieved so you would be alike. So do not take from among them allies until they emigrate for the cause of Allah . But if they turn away, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them and take not from among them any ally or helper.
Allah commands Muhammad to encourage Muslims to fight (jihad) against non-Muslims. If a Muslim turns away from Islam, they commit "apostacy". Non-Muslims who won't convert should be killed.
Not equal are those believers remaining [at home] - other than the disabled - and the mujahideen, [who strive and fight] in the cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah has preferred the mujahideen through their wealth and their lives over those who remain [behind], by degrees. And to both Allah has promised the best [reward]. But Allah has preferred the mujahideen over those who remain [behind] with a great reward - Degrees [of high position] from Him and forgiveness and mercy. And Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful.
Muslims who perform jihad through fighting, or through raising funds, or donating to mujahideen (jihad-ers) are superior and are guaranteed entry to heaven. This entices Muslims who have not lead perfect lives according to Islamic doctrine to perform jihad as an easy escape from those consequences.
Be not weary and faint-hearted, crying for peace, when ye should be uppermost: for Allah is with you, and will never put you in loss for your (good) deeds.
The opposite of crying for peace is conflict. Jihad (holy war) is commanded when Muslims are uppermost, in a strategically advantageous position, the majority. In contrast, if Muslims are a minority, they are not obligated to jihad.
Quran 4:98-99
Except for the oppressed among men, women and children who cannot devise a plan nor are they directed to a way - For those it is expected that Allah will pardon them, and Allah is ever Pardoning and Forgiving.
And those who no longer expect menstruation among your women - if you doubt, then their period is three months, and [also for] those who have not menstruated. And for those who are pregnant, their term is until they give birth. And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him of his matter ease.
Here Allah is describing the waiting period that must be observed before having sex with females between their divorce and next marriage. Allah explicitly says it is okay to have sex with pre-menstrual girls. Girls that young can't consent.
And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their women, that which their right hands possess, or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.
Aside from the requirement of women to wear a headcover, women are commanded not to move in certain ways that might make boobs bounce, like dancing and running.
O you who have believed, bow and prostrate and worship your Lord and do good - that you may succeed. And strive for Allah with the striving due to Him. He has chosen you and has not placed upon you in the religion any difficulty. [It is] the religion of your father, Abraham. Allah named you "Muslims" before [in former scriptures] and in this [revelation] that the Messenger may be a witness over you and you may be witnesses over the people. So establish prayer and give zakah and hold fast to Allah . He is your protector; and excellent is the protector, and excellent is the helper.
Allah commands Muslims (believers) to strive (wage jihad, holy war)
And if two factions among the believers should fight, then make settlement between the two. But if one of them oppresses the other, then fight against the one that oppresses until it returns to the ordinance of Allah . And if it returns, then make settlement between them in justice and act justly. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.
Being "oppressed" is quite vague. It stands to reason that any Muslims minority is oppressed.
O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them; nor let women ridicule [other] women; perhaps they may be better than them. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames. Wretched is the name of disobedience after [one's] faith. And whoever does not repent - then it is those who are the wrongdoers.
Free speech is necessary for any functioning democracy.
O Prophet, strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites and be harsh upon them. And their refuge is Hell, and wretched is the destination.
Muhammad is commanded to strive (jihad) against non-Muslims.
Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah ; and those with him are forceful against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and prostrating [in prayer], seeking bounty from Allah and [His] pleasure. Their mark is on their faces from the trace of prostration. That is their description in the Torah. And their description in the Gospel is as a plant which produces its offshoots and strengthens them so they grow firm and stand upon their stalks, delighting the sowers - so that Allah may enrage by them the disbelievers. Allah has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds among them forgiveness and a great reward.
Those who are with Muhammad are Muslims. Disbelievers are non-Muslims. Allah defines Muslims as being forceful against non-Muslims, and merciful with Muslims.
And whoever opposes the Messenger after guidance has become clear to him and follows other than the way of the believers - We will give him what he has taken and drive him into Hell, and evil it is as a destination.
Disbelievers and hypocrites should be driven into hell by Muslims.
Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment,
Those who strive to cause corruption could include anyone not adhering to all of Islams rules. This is killing for vague crimes.
[As for] the thief, the male and the female, amputate their hands in recompense for what they committed as a deterrent [punishment] from Allah . And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.
Cutting off the hands of thieves is cruel.
And judge, [O Muhammad], between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their inclinations and beware of them, lest they tempt you away from some of what Allah has revealed to you. And if they turn away - then know that Allah only intends to afflict them with some of their [own] sins. And indeed, many among the people are defiantly disobedient.
Allah commands Muhammad and thus Muslims to judge Muslims by the Quran, Christians by the bible, and Jews by the Torah. People are not equal if they don't all need to follow the same rules.
O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you - then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people.
This conspiratorial verse tells Muslims not to trust Christians nor Jews, nor Muslims who are their allies.
O you who have believed, whoever of you should revert from his religion - Allah will bring forth [in place of them] a people He will love and who will love Him [who are] humble toward the believers, powerful against the disbelievers; they strive in the cause of Allah and do not fear the blame of a critic. That is the favor of Allah ; He bestows it upon whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.
Muslims who revert from their religion (disbelievers) ought to be punished by a people produced by Allah. These Allah-people will be powerful against the disbelievers (they will jihad against them).
O you who have believed, take not those who have taken your religion in ridicule and amusement among the ones who were given the Scripture before you nor the disbelievers as allies. And fear Allah, if you should [truly] be believers.
An order by Allah not to trust non-Muslims.
Allah will not impose blame upon you for what is meaningless in your oaths, but He will impose blame upon you for [breaking] what you intended of oaths. So its expiation is the feeding of ten needy people from the average of that which you feed your [own] families or clothing them or the freeing of a slave. But whoever cannot find [or afford it] - then a fast of three days [is required]. That is the expiation for oaths when you have sworn. But guard your oaths. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be grateful.
It is immoral to say that a meaningless oath is fine to break. An oath is an oath, when made they should be kept. It is also immoral to suggest that an "intended oath" once broken can be forgiven with a fixed repentance. This teaches Muslims to consider breaking their oaths in exchange for fasting for three days.
And [it is] an announcement from Allah and His Messenger to the people on the day of the greater pilgrimage that Allah is disassociated from the disbelievers, and [so is] His Messenger. So if you repent, that is best for you; but if you turn away - then know that you will not cause failure to Allah . And give tidings to those who disbelieve of a painful punishment. Excepted are those with whom you made a treaty among the polytheists and then they have not been deficient toward you in anything or supported anyone against you; so complete for them their treaty until their term [has ended]. Indeed, Allah loves the righteous [who fear Him]. And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakah, let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
Muslims should kill all disbelievers, except for polytheists with who Muslims have a treaty in which case they should wait for treaties to expire then kill, or convert them all.
Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth from those who were given the Scripture - [fight] until they give the jizyah willingly while they are humbled.
Fight unbelievers until they die, convert or pay a tax (jizya). Muhammad did this to Jews at a rate of 50%.
O you who have believed, indeed many of the scholars and the monks devour the wealth of people unjustly and avert [them] from the way of Allah . And those who hoard gold and silver and spend it not in the way of Allah - give them tidings of a painful punishment.
Scholars are bad, monks are bad, rich people are bad ... this all conflicts with the notions of: private property, education, the right to seek happiness. This leads to sectarian-communism.
Indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve [lunar] months in the register of Allah [from] the day He created the heavens and the earth; of these, four are sacred. That is the correct religion, so do not wrong yourselves during them. And fight against the disbelievers collectively as they fight against you collectively. And know that Allah is with the righteous [who fear Him].
Fight against all disbelievers.
If you do not aid the Prophet - Allah has already aided him when those who disbelieved had driven him out [of Makkah] as one of two, when they were in the cave and he said to his companion, "Do not grieve; indeed Allah is with us." And Allah sent down his tranquillity upon him and supported him with angels you did not see and made the word of those who disbelieved the lowest, while the word of Allah - that is the highest. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise. Go forth, whether light or heavy, and strive with your wealth and your lives in the cause of Allah . That is better for you, if you only knew.
If you are afraid Allah will bring you peace of mind so go forth and strive (jihad) with your money and lives. This is a command to jihad.
O Prophet, fight against the disbelievers and the hypocrites and be harsh upon them. And their refuge is Hell, and wretched is the destination.
A command to jihad.
And when a surah was revealed [enjoining them] to believe in Allah and to fight with His Messenger, those of wealth among them asked your permission [to stay back] and said, "Leave us to be with them who sit [at home]."
...
But the Messenger and those who believed with him fought with their wealth and their lives. Those will have [all that is] good, and it is those who are the successful.
These verses are criticizing hypocrites for not going to jihad with Muhammad.
And [there are] those [hypocrites] who took for themselves a mosque for causing harm and disbelief and division among the believers and as a station for whoever had warred against Allah and His Messenger before. And they will surely swear, "We intended only the best." And Allah testifies that indeed they are liars. ...
Their building which they built will not cease to be a [cause of] skepticism in their hearts until their hearts are stopped. And Allah is Knowing and Wise.
Hypocrite-Muslims should be killed.
And it is not for the believers to go forth [to battle] all at once. For there should separate from every division of them a group [remaining] to obtain understanding in the religion and warn their people when they return to them that they might be cautious. O you who have believed, fight those adjacent to you of the disbelievers and let them find in you harshness. And know that Allah is with the righteous.
A command to jihad.
It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter, that they should [thereafter] have any choice about their affair. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly strayed into clear error.
But no, by your Lord, they will not [truly] believe until they make you, [O Muhammad], judge concerning that over which they dispute among themselves and then find within themselves no discomfort from what you have judged and submit in [full, willing] submission.
Indeed, those who disbelieve in Allah and His messengers and wish to discriminate between Allah and His messengers and say, "We believe in some and disbelieve in others," and wish to adopt a way in between - Those are the disbelievers, truly. And We have prepared for the disbelievers a humiliating punishment.
If a Muslim does not obey all of Allah's commands, they are a hypocrite.
But the hypocrites say, "We have believed in Allah and in the Messenger, and we obey"; then a party of them turns away after that. And those are not believers.
Hypocrites are Muslims who do not obey all of Allahs commands.
Indeed, the hypocrites [think to] deceive Allah, but He is deceiving them. And when they stand for prayer, they stand lazily, showing [themselves to] the people and not remembering Allah except a little,
Hypocrites are Muslims who are not zealous enough toward Islam.
Certainly was Allah pleased with the believers when they pledged allegiance to you, [O Muhammad], under the tree, and He knew what was in their hearts, so He sent down tranquillity upon them and rewarded them with an imminent conquest And much war booty which they will take. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise.
Allah is please with Muslims who are pledged to Muhammad.
You will not find a people who believe in Allah and the Last Day having affection for those who oppose Allah and His Messenger, even if they were their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their kindred. Those - He has decreed within their hearts faith and supported them with spirit from Him. And We will admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally. Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him - those are the party of Allah . Unquestionably, the party of Allah - they are the successful.
Muslims do not have affection for non-Muslims.
Indeed, Allah loves those who fight in His cause in a row as though they are a [single] structure joined firmly.
Allah loves Muslims who jihad together.
O you who have believed, what is [the matter] with you that, when you are told to go forth in the cause of Allah, you adhere heavily to the earth? Are you satisfied with the life of this world rather than the Hereafter? But what is the enjoyment of worldly life compared to the Hereafter except a [very] little.
"Adhere heavily to the earth" means not wanting to die in jihad.
Those who believe in Allah and the Last Day would not ask permission of you to be excused from striving with their wealth and their lives. And Allah is Knowing of those who fear Him. Only those would ask permission of you who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day and whose hearts have doubted, and they, in their doubt, are hesitating.
Muslims must strive (jihad). A Muslim who tries to escape this have doubted and thus are not believers.
Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties [in exchange] for that they will have Paradise. They fight in the cause of Allah, so they kill and are killed. [It is] a true promise [binding] upon Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an. And who is truer to his covenant than Allah ? So rejoice in your transaction which you have contracted. And it is that which is the great attainment.
A Muslim kills and is killed. In other words a Muslim Jihads.
They have certainly disbelieved who say that Allah is Christ, the son of Mary. Say, "Then who could prevent Allah at all if He had intended to destroy Christ, the son of Mary, or his mother or everyone on the earth?" And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them. He creates what He wills, and Allah is over all things competent.
Those who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists were not to be parted [from misbelief] until there came to them clear evidence -
Indeed, they who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists will be in the fire of Hell, abiding eternally therein. Those are the worst of creatures.
People of the Scripture are Jews and Christians. Jews, Christians and polytheists are the worst of creatures.
You will surely find the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers [to be] the Jews and those who associate others with Allah ; and you will find the nearest of them in affection to the believers those who say, "We are Christians." That is because among them are priests and monks and because they are not arrogant.
This says: the ones who hate Muslims the most is Jews, and the next most hating are Christians.
The Jews say, "Ezra is the son of Allah "; and the Christians say, "The Messiah is the son of Allah ." That is their statement from their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved [before them]. May Allah destroy them; how are they deluded?
Jews and Christians are enemies of Allah to be destroyed.
There are many passages which don't contain commands but contribute to Antisemitism.
For wrongdoing on the part of the Jews, We made unlawful for them [certain] good foods which had been lawful to them, and for their averting from the way of Allah many [people], And [for] their taking of usury while they had been forbidden from it, and their consuming of the people's wealth unjustly. And we have prepared for the disbelievers among them a painful punishment.
This says that Jews give loans with excessive interest, and therefore are thieves.

Say, "O you who are Jews, if you claim that you are allies of Allah, excluding the [other] people, then wish for death, if you should be truthful." But they will not wish for it, ever, because of what their hands have put forth. And Allah is Knowing of the wrongdoers.
If Jews claim their religion is true and others are not, then according to Allah Jews should wish for death in order to go to to heaven. But Jews don't because they're bad.
So for their breaking of the covenant We cursed them and made their hearts hard. They distort words from their [proper] usages and have forgotten a portion of that of which they were reminded. And you will still observe deceit among them, except a few of them. But pardon them and overlook [their misdeeds]. Indeed, Allah loves the doers of good.
Allah says that Jews have broken their promise, and so Allah made them heartless.
And from those who say, "We are Christians" We took their covenant; but they forgot a portion of that of which they were reminded. So We caused among them animosity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection. And Allah is going to inform them about what they used to do.
Allah says Christians have broken their promise, so they are hateful.
But how is it that they come to you for judgement while they have the Torah, in which is the judgement of Allah? Then they turn away, [even] after that; but those are not [in fact] believers.
Allah characterizes Jews who don't behave like Muslims, essentially corrupt.
Say, "O People of the Scripture, do you resent us except [for the fact] that we have believed in Allah and what was revealed to us and what was revealed before and because most of you are defiantly disobedient?" Say, "Shall I inform you of [what is] worse than that as penalty from Allah ? [It is that of] those whom Allah has cursed and with whom He became angry and made of them apes and pigs and slaves of Taghut. Those are worse in position and further astray from the sound way."
People of the scripture (Jews) are cursed as apes and pigs.
They have certainly disbelieved who say, " Allah is the Messiah, the son of Mary" while the Messiah has said, "O Children of Israel, worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Indeed, he who associates others with Allah - Allah has forbidden him Paradise, and his refuge is the Fire. And there are not for the wrongdoers any helpers. They have certainly disbelieved who say, " Allah is the third of three." And there is no god except one God. And if they do not desist from what they are saying, there will surely afflict the disbelievers among them a painful punishment.
Christians who say that Jesus is the Lord and son of Mary, or if they believe in the Christian trinity, a core principle of Christianity, are automatically wrongdoers.
O you who have believed, indeed the polytheists are unclean, so let them not approach al-Masjid al-Haram after this, their [final] year. And if you fear privation, Allah will enrich you from His bounty if He wills. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Wise.
Polytheists are dirty.
Sometimes Muslims use quotes to show how good Islam is. The following are mis-used.
whoever kills a soul - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely
Peaceful, don't kill right? Except this is not the real verse, nor is it a command for Muslims.
Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors.
The quote is Allah applying different conditions to Jews. And the very next verse describes how Muslims should punish people causing corruption.
Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment,
Apologists pretend jihad is not "holy war".
Not equal are those believers remaining [at home] - other than the disabled - and the mujahideen, [who strive and fight] in the cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah has preferred the mujahideen through their wealth and their lives over those who remain [behind], by degrees. And to both Allah has promised the best [reward]. But Allah has preferred the mujahideen over those who remain [behind] with a great reward - Degrees [of high position] from Him and forgiveness and mercy. And Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful.
Holy war > staying at home. If Jihad meant spiritual struggle, the disabled would not be exempt.
If Allah should return you to a faction of them [after the expedition] and then they ask your permission to go out [to battle], say, "You will not go out with me, ever, and you will never fight with me an enemy. Indeed, you were satisfied with sitting [at home] the first time, so sit [now] with those who stay behind." And do not pray [the funeral prayer, O Muhammad], over any of them who has died - ever - or stand at his grave. Indeed, they disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger and died while they were defiantly disobedient.
If a Muslim does not go to Jihad when they should have, they are a disbeliever.
There is not upon the weak or upon the ill or upon those who do not find anything to spend any discomfort when they are sincere to Allah and His Messenger. There is not upon the doers of good any cause [for blame]. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
Jihad in the Quran is almost exclusively used as holy war. If Jihad was not holy war, why would the weak, ill or poor be excluded?
This does not mean all Muslims are bad. Don't go attacking anyone. Most people never read their religion's book. It is necessary however to acknowledge reality in order to move on to solutions.
